Did Hekpoort Climb this weekend as a training ride (wanted to see what the Telkom Satalite route was like). Noticed a lot of discarded"Goo" sackets and half full energade bottles on the way up. But when I got to the top !! There must be about 50Litres of water sachets left by one of the watering stations on the side of the road. Who is going to clean this mess up.??

Disgusting. The organisers of that event should be informed, and they have to clean it up. Its always lekker for them to receive all the money from entries, but almost none will spend some of that money on the cleanup.Angry

ye we do get satches sometime, its not a good idea though cause the blokes ride away with it, and later when they discover they cant eat it they through it on the side of the road, rather difficult to clean the mess oacross 100s of km's, but if the organisers want to use it they should be happy to clean up, all the way, on the other hand, cyclist wont die for keeping an empty plastic in their pockets to the end of the ride

The only exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions, running down their friends, side-stepping responsibility, and pushing their luck!

I drive that road daily on my way to/from work, and all the junk has been cleaned up.

/off topic/

On the Hekpoort pass, you would have seen a lot of full black bags. There is a project on the go in Hekpoort / Magaliesburg to clean the side of the roads in general.
