noli and Darth: can we get your suspension settings? It's sorta the purpose of the thread as opposed to a general list of our bike specs. Got the idea off some pinkbike listing of the Fox Racing Shox WC riders and their settings. That sorta thing should interest most DHers. Then again, i am a bit of a nerd ;)

Darth: that pic has u hauling serious ass. Very sweet sled.

Hey Cap.

It is Brad's old fork, but the frame was from a guy called Antonio. I built up the rest of the bike from CRC orders.
I will check my settings at home tonight, and update my post tomorrow.

I really battled to get the rear end of this bike set up right, until I got some excellent advice from one of the GP DH guys.

Hopefully this thread can help others that have battled the same as I did.

Are you mad!! Pedaling up with a full  face. Makes your helmet so sief and sweaty!!! Also your head like over heats cause there so few vents! You have obviously never tried to pedal a DH bike up a hill with full body armor on.

the more info the better. While me not all ride the same trail, the conditions might be very similar, so similar settings should result in a similar result, plus or minus other changes to accomodate rider style and bike geo.

Some riders change nothing irrespective of the terrain, except maybe for tires. Chris Kovarik is apparently one of those riders. But Chris hasn't rocked a WC podium in how long now? All the top riders play around with settings depending on tracks. BUT, we dont ride as fast as they do, however, that shouldnt stop us from extracting the max performance we are capable of, and at the very least, get to learn more of the mechanics that underpins this sport we love. As i mentioned previously, i'm a nerd in that way :)

I was blowing through my travel, and bottoming out harshly.
I tried a 50lb heavier spring, but all it did was make the ride more choppy. I will look when I get home which rate it was.

What I discovered, was actually a really simple thing, that I should have realised to begin with. The DHX 5 comes with that "bottom out resistance", and although I had pumped it to what I thought was the right pressure, I had neglected to turn out the knob completely before I pumped it. Effectively, I had much too little pressure in there. I am now running about 175psi with the knob turned in to the second line.

I also cranked up the propedal which helped (low speed compression). I think it is sitting at about 7 clicks.

I have overshot a few landings at the Spruit jumps and landed flat from what I guess must be about 6-8ft, and it feels buttery smooth now.
