Anyone doing this?

Wondering whether I should attempt it again. Came stone last last year - everyone had packed up and gone by the time I reached the finish.

Only the banner was left up so that I'd know where to stop....

A friend of mine was thinking of doing his first race on that weekend. Either Riebeeck Vallei or Stanford 35km. Do you perhaps have a route profile or can you give me an idea how the route is. Don't want to kill the poor guy on his first race.
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. - L Armstrong

Big Til, there's no profile as far as I know. it's organised by the local church so it is a pretty relaxed afair - no timing mats either. It started 10mins late last year because they couldn't find the dominee, who was going to fire the starting gun.

The 35km route was pretty flat, with a long climb (Kasteelberg) and a VERY STEEP decent in the middle of the route. After that it was flat riding through farmlands. Not exactly exciting, but the views from the top of the climb were awesome.

All together probably an ideal first race.

Indication of the climbs would be nice and if there are decent recovery areas and some flat riding. Will be on a SS so want to get an idea of what to expect!
