The route includes Hekpoort hill and Poeierkop hill which will prepare the riders for Chapman’s Peak and Suikerbossie.

2) There are two distances: 109 Km. for the Cape Argus riders and 33 km. funride for the beginner cyclist. Both starting at Bekker Primary School near Magaliesburg situated off the R 24 on the Hekpoort road.

3) The 109 Km. race will be running up Hekpoort Hill followed by Poeierkop at the Telkom Satelite Station down to the Hartbeespoortdam and back through the Magalies Meander to Bekker Schools.

4) The race will be run according to the rules and regulations of the U.C.I., Cycling SA and C.N.G.

5) It is compulsory to wear a helmet: No Helmet, No Ridebr Please remember to fit your chip: No Chip, No Time

6) Obey all the Trafic rules and stay on the left side of the road. It is for your own safety, Those who do not adhere to the rules will be disqualified. There will be Marshalls and Traffic Officers at each intersection along the route. Please corporate with them as the safety of this cycling event is largely inn their hands.

7) On the road up Hekpoort hill the bundles will break-up creating smaller units of cyclist riding on the route which is safer for the riders than riding in big bunches.

8) There are four waterpoints along the route.
When taking on refreshments at waterpoints, move to the back of the bunch and to the left of the road to ensure safe passage.
Waterpoints are indicated on the route map.

What do you mean better scenery? Emperor's has the crashing waves of Wild Waters, the majestic mine dump mountains and the architectural beauty of Carnival City!

Teardrop, just a few questions:

- Will it be one big mass start again? Last year was a major safety risk when we had a mass start. Cars had to swerve of the road to avoid hitting cyclists, everyone fighting for the front, it was just one big f*ck up all the way to hekpoort - please tell me someone at the organisers grew a brain in the last year and changed that

- If not a mass start, will you have seperate start groups for Vets and Elites, or just make one licensed bunch? Us old toppies prefer to have our own race...

- I assume if there is seperate start groups for the licensed riders, then we cannot enter on the day for the day, just enter for the open category race at the start?

Thanks

As far as I know it is seeded starting bunches, if u enter on the day you will only be able to start in the open seeded bunches i.e. A or B.............

Regarding collection of numbers on race day that you will have to contact Gerda Kaljee @ 083 702 3731 she will be able to clarify that but I dont forsee any problems with number collection.
