Hi All The South African National Marathon MTB Championships (incorporating the third leg of the 2010 MTN National Marathon Series) will take place in Sabie, Mpumalanga, on Saturday 27th February 2010. Come and be a part of the battle for the best in the country... Only one victor will emerge on top for 2010? For 11 years the Sabie Classic has become the benchmark Enduro Mountain Bike race by which all others are judged. Almost 3000 riders will descend upon the small Lowveld town to experience South Africa’s “Mecca” of mountain biking. All of the country’s top riders appeared for the race lured by the large winning purse as well as the legendary challenge thatSabie possesses. In 2009 a sprint finish between Max Knox and World U23 Champ, Burry Stander saw a blown tyre 30m from the line and handed Max his greatest career win! MTN and the organizers are ensuring that not only will the riders experience the best Mountain Biking in Africa, but their families will enjoy the whole weekend with a dedicated kids area with face painting and games as well as a race restaurant for all to fill up on. A 2km race for really small kids will guarantee that all ages are catered for... This year there are more reasons than ever for anyone who has a yearning to experience the thrill, fun and camaraderie that Sabie has always offered, bring the whole family for a weekend away and escape into the forests to experience the breathtaking scenery and mind blowing trails that is the Sabie Classic, it’s what your Mountain Bike was made for... The Friday night registration will, as always, provide lots of entertainment for the whole family with food, music, product stalls, Xtreme Sports shop, product displays and lots to sample. Course Information MTN Ultra - 110km This Ultra distance is open to all Elite level riders and a strict cut off at the end of the 70km loop will be strictly implemented. Of course the 110km entrants will experience a completely different kind of pain, but then these guys know what to expect, and get it they will – we promise. MTN Marathon - 70km This route also extends beyond the 40 km route beyond Mac Mac into the Grootfontein Valley near Pilgrims Rest. A Speed Trap will be positioned at about 48 km if weather conditions permit. See how fast you can go... MiWay Half- Marathon 40km A special thank you to the landowners. The Sabie Classic uses the York Timbers Sports grounds for the start/ finish area, and both York Timbers and Komatiland Forests plantations for the routes. Online entries are done at www.mtncycling.co.za until 21st February, but late entries will be limited at registration on Friday 26th February. Number pick-ups will be made available at FPC stores earlier the week, see on the right for details. Please pre-enter to limit the last minute rush... Accommodation See you on the trails!

Can't wait for this race. Probably not going to finish alive, but near dead is also a winner!

no, no, you can't do that - then i'll have no more excuses ...
It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Brilliant race.
Got the OK to cycle, just need to be careful. Bike serviced and new drivetrain put on, now just to get some training in before the race.
Can't wait.
