Hi Hubbers

I am trying to convince my fiance to ride the 26 km route. She is worried that it would be too advanced for her. She enjoy the flatter rides (like most beginners) but recently she has been inclined to do a bit of easier single track as well, which is why I suggested that se ride the 26, rather than the 13. The idea is that I ride the 26 with her, and come through the next day to do the 55km. Anyone that did the ride last year wish to comment? Confused

Has she done the 13km before?

Tell her, walking is OK....nothing to be ashamed of....
we all started somewhere and walking is part & parcel of MTB...

She's done various short routes on last year's mtb calandar, as well as the 30 odd km route at last year's Nelsons Creek festival. She enjoys the green route at oak valley as well as the shorter routes at places like harkerville. Her issue is with climbing. Its apparantly "not ayoba". How tough is the climb on the 26 km? Anyone with a profile perhaps?

Only one climb, fairly steep and rocky, but not too long.  As far as I can remember.  One section of the route is flat but extremely rocky,  not so nice on a hardtail.  I am considering doing the 35km just to avoid that section.

The 26km race will be my 1st mtb race, and now after reading this i must say im worried, seems il be pushing the bike alot. maybe the 13km would have been a better starter

@raptor
Don't want to make you worry more, but last year's Burger MTB over 35km was easier than the Argus 26km. See it as a challenge.  The 13km is a nice starter.  What is the longest MTB ride you've done up to now?

Where does the Argus MTB route go? I can't find this info on the website. Its a pity the MTB race isn't the day before the road - would be nice to be able to do both.

It is the weekend before, at the Boschendal Wine Estate between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch

I plan to do the 35km. Looks like a tough climb and some cool single track.

Gota start training for this. Was sick 2 weeks back, cold got to my chest and I've also been on holiday.

Only 18 days to go. Looking forward to my first MTB Argus.
