Rode the Greyton MTB yesterday. What a great ride!

All the hills where in the first half so I thought once they where done the race was done...not! lots of technical singletrack/jeeptrack/animal track was followed through some adjoining farms with short stretches of gravel road in between.

Some of the route would have been familiar to epic riders, but not much. Probably the best MTB ride I have raced this season, distance was only 42km and the winner did it in 1:45 - man that is quick! only thing that would have made it better would have been to up the distance - that being said I am not sure the backmarkers would agree

A really fun event, well organized and a great atmosphere. Only complaint is that it can be a major frustration to have to dodge slower riders when routes link up as they did on this one.brussel2009-06-21 11:45:20

that's for sure - those of us "not so fast" 45km riders got stuck in a few bottlenecks with some of the 25km riders which was a bit frustrating. My butt is still feeling worse off after some of the stretches over river rock but on the whole - what an awesome race. BTW - were there martials monitoring at all the points where the short and long routes split and then joined together again?

The route was great and enjoyable. Very rocky at times, had the same issues as you with the shorter route riders.
