Due to roadworks in Pniel - at the other end of Helshoogte - that stretches for quite a bit.
Went through there last week on the iron horse and it looks like an extensive road improvement project.

Does anyone have the route profile of the new route?

Jip - thats a no-go area for a road race. Its going to be sweet if they get that road done by 2011 or something.
Will link up the very nice helshoogte - and the franschoek road. That road was trashed and very narrow - dodge to ride there on the edge close to the potholes with a truck driving past and on coming traffic
So - route will not be the same

From Technopark, cyclists doing the 106km route go through Stellenbosch towards Klapmuts. Turn right before the Klapmuts 4-way stop onto the R45 to Simondium, past the Boschendal T-junction towards Franschhoek, cross the Berg River Bridge and then turn left at Wemmershoek on the R301, past the Drakenstein Prison towards Paarl. A short loop through the outskirts of Paarl takes cyclists back onto the R101 through Klapmuts, left onto the R304 and back to the finish via Spier, the Annandale Road and R44.
