Wesseman is in Yellow....it is very close at the moment. Hannachi is riding overseas currently. Garret and Wesseman caught the break on Hels....and just rode away with Wesseman!

So why don't these guys have team mates that work up front like Domestiques, and control the pace, making it faster?

Oh well, I suppose that's racing. I'll just sit in the bunch next time no matter what the pace and conserve myself for obliteration on the hills.

Trust me Tarmac-GSTR it gets much tougher dude. Sometimes it does feel like the bunch is looking for parking, other times it feels like they're late for the airport.

Spoke to Martin yesterday, he said the pace wasn't crazy, it was him who punctured and rode back! But I don't listen to anything he as to say about easy/tough - he's a motorbike, stoked he's in yellow... He deserves it.

that is everyones attitude in the bunch...that is why only a few guys are making the racing and the pace is so slow....everyone wants to "save" them self for "the move"

the most obvious reason to send one of your team mates away is to put pressure on some other people to race....if you send someone off then you can relax in the bunch...meaning.....if you wanna win the race....go and chase the guy down!!Big%20smileWink

I really enjoyed this race - probably because I didn't ride it!

I didn't quite feel up to the 115km, and the 78km started too late - so myself and Mrs. Auctionlamb did our own thing and ended up on the top of Hels to watch the guys come through.

What a treat to see the Elites and SV climb up there at the speed I normally manage on the flat section (on a good day!).  It was quite confusing thought trying to figure out who was riding what (Elite or SV), but I think we managed the most of it.

Saw quite a few hubbers and cheered them on - obviously Colonel - Auctionlamb, Stringbean, Shortlegs, Kriek, Thornman, BMCFan....I think that's it?  Someone shouted hello to me from the bunch, but I wasn't sure who it was.

Said Hi to Grootlem on the way back down Helz - not sure if he knew it was me though?

Yeah, I'm sure it will be different every time. I know about racing tactics, I just thought it would be different.

Looking forward to the next one.

Anybody know what happened to SlOW and Gary M?

This was my first league race, and I was surprised at how slow it was, no wonder the SV caught us. One dude got a flat. stopped, fixed it, and caught us by himself only 2km later.

Up to 50 kays I nearly wore my brakes out going down hill. There were attacks, but weak 200m meter 2 man breaks then okes would hit the brakes and see what happens! The main break happened, no-one chased for ages (I know team tactics were involved) but riding so slowly was not cool.

I went off the front, riding at a normal pace, and had a nice lead on the bunch with one other guy with me. we didnt catch the break away, but then he says to me his radio says there are 10 guys chasing us and we should wait because they will catch anyway. So I sat up, took in some fluids, stretched my back etc. waited about a minute and a half, only to see the SV break, that we couldnt join!! Pissed off is an understatement.

Had to pick up the pace onto hels, but was broken from staying away and got caught and dropped! Then turned up the pace going over to salvage some sort of race time.

I hope all EL races are not so, tactic slow yoyo style.

imganie how frustrated guys like Moolies, Kemp, van Staden, Quinn, L Calitz, Stefan and co must have felt when the racing was that slow. Up Helshoogte the whole bunch spat into 10 million pieces...that was right at the bottom!!!LOLWink The racing only started then......Embarrassed

You guys (Elites) caught us breakaway of SV going up hels and let me tell you the f**king aftermath that was left all over the place was a joke. There were bodies strung out all over the place of Elites.

From what we saw in the break and what I was told from mates in Elites that anyone could of stayed with the group up to hels but then at hels is when the racing started so if you werent over with the front elites then clearly you not in the race.

Here is a link to the website with the route deatils. If you have ridden in Paarl, you should know this route pretty well. Nice undulating hills, smooth-hard gravel. Should be a quick race.
