Does anyone know what happened to the Palmiet MTB Trail from near Grabouw to Betties / Kleinmond? That used to be a great ride but I think it was closed due to land access issues? Would love to do that again.

Number 4 on the map, yes.  It's a fairly relaxed ride, a few (really) short kickers with loose rocks, but not very technical.  At the turning point there is a nice rock pool for a swim.  Most people will do it under 4 hours.

Only part that is still legal is from the gate at Kleinmond to the rock pool in the palmiet. About 26km? Permits can be bought at the gate.

I get so excited everytime I see this thread heading as there is a Palmiet River near my place in Durban, Westville. I even took a pic of the sign of the river at the bridge.

I was there about 3 weeks ago.  Lekker ride, but there is one area that is a bit flooded with long grass and you have to walk it.  You might get your feet wet.
