Okay,

I don't really feel like doing work today so I thought I would delve into the mysteries of Quadrant Analysis Geek

The OFM was an interesting race for me - plenty of attacks, plenty of gutter riding (threshold) and then a nice little sprint at the end.

I see I spent most of the race in Quadrant III and IV

III = low force low velocity

IV = low force high velocity

so, what can I learn from this??

I suspect that my command of the English language would render me incapable sir (aren't you involved in journalism or something similar?)

Bruce - that's a low blow at this time on a Monday..

Short answer;

Quad IV - largest component - variable power efforts in a road race like this, accelerations etc to mark moves

Quad III - recoveries from above while you were loafing in the bunch

Quad II - Only one real climb that would see much of this and a few rollers

Quad I - Sprint for the line

Looks about right I reckon.

Now get back to work... Confused

Hmmmnn,  as they say in the classics, so what?

I reckon the match analysis you do is far more valuable.

Agree - I have never been able to draw much value from these plots other than - well that's what that sort of race elicits..

Now match analysis - that's worth having..

Looks a bit like Cherrys condition on Saturday.  Although, I think that one spot in Quadrant I is cause for concern.

Only in my spare time and as the guys at Chainwheel will testify I have not had much of that in the past 18 months.

I'm an accountant by trade, and I had some interesting data analysis to do but no time to do it and no-one with adequate technical ability to pass it onto.
