Dear Williehond
Exactly! This thread is about cycling, not real life...

Brest - Italy's Damiano Cunego decided to miss the Giro d'Italia in May to focus on the Tour de France in the hope of becoming the first Italian winner since Marco Pantani in 1998.
"I'm Italian and so it wasn't an easy decision to miss the Giro but I've no regrets about my decision," Cunego told Reuters.
"When I saw the route of this year's Tour de France I knew I had to give it a shot this year. The time trials are much shorter than in recent years and that means I can limit my losses and perhaps gain a winning margin in the mountains. At least that's the plan."

BREST, France, July 2 (Reuters) - Team Garmin-Chipotle manager Jonathan Vaughters said his riders would seize every opportunity to take the yellow jersey during this year's Tour de France.
Although he knows none of his proteges are likely to prevail after three gruelling weeks on the French roads, Vaughers hopes his new team will shine.

BREST, - Leading 2008 Tour de France favourite Cadel Evans of Australia believes victory this year in cycling's blue riband event would have equal worth despite the absence of last year's winner Alberto Contador of Spain. Asked if the victory would be devalued with no Contador racing, Evans stated flatly: "Not really.
"A lot of people have asked me about this and I'm not annoyed about it, but not really, no.

BREST - Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme said this year's race will change the face of cycling.
"One month from now, we will not be the same, in one way or another," Prudhomme told Reuters in an interview.
