Correction to my earlier post-Christoff came in 3rd, Pieter Seyffert, a  respectable 11th.

Pieter Seyffert was in the chasing bunch 1min behind the first 15 guys. Today is a really hard stage with two climbs of about 5 km each.

S

Stage 3 from Camp hill to Bedford, the longest stage of the tour and the toughest with both a category one & two climb midway through the stage. Strong wind and rain threatened the international field at the start line; however conditions cleared up just before the start. Konica Minolta rode aggressively from the outset with Herman Fouche taking the first sprint hotspot. At the 26km mark. A short while later Peter Seyffert (Konica Minolta) escaped with a small breakaway group of seven riders Peter took the second hotspot of the day before the group was reeled in by the peloton at the beginning of the first big climb of the day. Stetina (VNG Felt) put in a truly valiant effort escaping on the first big climb with more than 60 kilometres to go. Although gaining more than 4 min his solo escape caught with only 100m to go.

Another tough but short stage lies ahead of the team. Stage 4 is from Bedford to Latrobe and contains both a cat 1 & cat 2 climb. "I'm feeling confident ahead of the stage" Said team manager John Robertson. "The team did a great job today, the team is riding as a unit and it's showing in the results.

Actually two more stages, today and tomorrow.
He also has the points jersey and the team seems to be getting stronger every day. They will have their work cut out for them tough to control the race with strong opposition and only a 1 sec lead.

The Team are really committed to keeping the jersey, so lets hold thumbs that their hard work pays off.  Yesterday was the shortest but hardest day, and they secured yellow.......  todays stage will be over by now, and I am eagerly awaiting the results. (6 hours behind, so check in the am).
Well done to each KM rider, you have flown our SA Flag with pride.

5 SA riders in the top 35!!!!  great going.

PS.... Happy Birthday Pedal Junior. xxxxx

The team did a great job controlling the race for most of the stage but unfortunately miss-calculated the number of laps when they came into town for the last few km's and Christoff sat up as they came to the finish line. Two riders saw the opportunity to jump away and with only 1 km to go build a few seconds lead on the bunch who finished 6 sec behind.Christoff now in 2nd position 5 sec behind.Pieter Seyffert moved into 16th position, Fouche in 23rd, Allan is 26th and Van Niekerk 30th.
