My 250meg/month of my contract is being well exceeded and my bill is climbing. Is there a good App to monitor data usage?

This is something I was fighting about yesterday with MTN. I used to be able to monitor my data on my old Sony Ericsson, but now with the smartphone(Xperia Neo) I can't. The network providors will not help either, as they will not put a data cap in place, I do have a call cap though. So bill cannot go over a certain amount

The network operators are really taking the piss with regards to this.

Is the apllication suggested compatible with all phones(Sony Ericsson)?

What are you doing on the phone to be using that much in a month, I was/am getting by on only 75mb/month.

I would also appreciate knowing this, but...............umm, I am old and not at all computer literate so to just say "this or that" means nothing to me sadly, how do I go about getting these "apps" do you buy them somewhere or what.?

....and then how do you download them.?

if you are on vodacom, you can check your data bundle balance by dialling *111hash = can you believe my hash key on this stoopid keyboard doesn ot work)

follow the prompts to check data bundle balance.

i have tried to do this to my mtn data card, but mtn seems to keep their data usage a secret from the customer.

my contract gives me 250meg/month , which should be more than enough for my purposes.

Just on hold with Nashua Mobile as I am typing this and it turns out my data bundle was not added to the contract from when I upgraded/extended my contract. It only kicks in at the end of August. So I was being charged from scratch for data, hence the hefty bill.
I'm rolling up my sleeves for this one

All the network operators must be making a killing on all this data, most people go over there alloted caps and are then charged a premium, plus your data does not roll over.

They refuse to regulate it so that the customer has control, it makes me sick.

@ Grumpy, there are numerous sites you can check out, GooglePlay being the most popular for non Apple users. Some are free, some you pay for. It's as easy as searching via Google(it wil direct you to Google play and hitting the install button.
