I found my first generation 15Gig iPod last night. It has been lying dormant for a couple of years and i was keen to fire it up and see what music I listened to back then.
Hooked it up to my Macbook, but nothing happened. No sign of life.
It worked fine before I put it away.
Can anyone tell me where or how I might get it to work again?

lol - must post a pic f my 2nd gen nano - it has no top or bottom - the battery is poked but it still works on power... Try hooking it up to a car charger if you can and see if that works - thats how mine still keeps going
I know all about your new man, your new, older, old man and I heard that he's married;
oh, you be careful Amanda.
Yeah, I found a new friend too, and yeah she's pretty and she's small,
but god damn it, Amanda; oh, god damn it all.

Plug it into your mac, leave it for a bit the hold down the play/pause button and the centre button until the logo appears.

Could it not be that the battery is stuffed cause it was left for so long?

Could be the battery. I found that if you remove the battery and connect it to your mac they normally turn on straight away. Also try use a firewire cable, they give more power then the USB cables do.

Just google how to reset Ipod. Choose the appple support searches. You must know which generation it is to perform specific reset. What the other hubber said earlier. Otherwise Ifix or any Apple store. They shouldnt charge you.

That's it. Battery dropped below a certain level and can't be recharged. Went to a businedd called iRestore in Tokai.

Waiting for a new battery. Will cost R 350.
It's worth it, better than throwing away an Icon.

Unless the iPod wakes up with a bout of Musical Amnesia, there is no way Roxette would have found it's way on to the device. That much I can remember. :thumbup:
