Hi guys, URGENT advice needed!

I'm in the market for a new bike..I've been looking at the above, they're all about R1000 of each other theres just small things that set them apart. They've all similarly specced and have the Rock shox Reba

Giant:
Tapered headtube with 15mm thru axle

Scott:
DT swiss rims
remote lockout

Momsen:
Crest rims, SLX hubs, tapered headtube

Do i go with the Momsen cos its good value for money? does the thru axle make that big a difference? I weigh 72KG. I'm looking for an overall good package as i wont be buying another bike for atleast another year or so.

ALL Input will be appreciated!
Thanks

Momsen takes an easy win here because of the Stans wheels, but much better value than al 3 will be the Silverback Storm.

I like Giant, but the Scott has the best components. Both the Scott and the Giant is around 11,6kg with heavy wheelsets, which you can upgrade later. The Momsen is 11,9kg with an already light wheelset, those frames are very heavy.

Of your choice it will be the Scott.

But for that money nothing beats the Siverback Vida 1. (Fox, Shimano XT, Crest Wheelset, 11,3kg)

Thanks for all the replies!

Momsen AL529 R13 995
Scott scale elite R14 000(R13 500 in Worcester)
Giant xtc 29er 1 R15 500(R14 300 in Worcester)

I get the point of upgrading the wheels at later stage! I can get the momsen specced with sun ringle dirty flea hubs for R15 000.

I really dont know what to do.. need to make my decision soon tho as I've been off the bike for 2 weeks already!hahahahahaha

From what I saw online the components are very similar...Xt /slx combo.
Wheelset is a more expensive upgrade later on compared to certain component upgrades.

So I would say Momsen........................ BUT they are all nice!

@Berg Bok having 1 of those silverbacks would be cool, only problem, just above my budget. another question is 10.6kg not a bit much for a carbon setup? I guess the weight is not a determining factor on that machine :cursing:

Is there any other bikes you guys can suggest me get? similar priced/specced to what I'm looking for?

You can't go wrong with any of them, but a 2nd hand cannondale flash would change your outlook. I do have a soft spot for momsen though...

10.6kg For that price is brilliant, thats seriously light - but if too expensive - as Jan said the Silverback Vida 1 is a very good choice with its Stans wheels. Wheels are very important in 29er format and if you go for the Giant or Scott I would recommend an immediate wheel upgrade.

I was looking at these exact same bikes, until I saw the Cannondale Flash, then my mind was made up straight away.  Quite a bit over budget though, but what a nice ride.  The 2013 Scott Scale's are out now, so have a look at that as well, now specced with a Fox shock and mix of XT & SLX.

Good luck

I had a look at the new Scott 940, the thing i liked about it is the remote lockout which has 3 settings so its not just your plain on/off control. What is you guys take on the back up services from the manufactures? shops that I've spoken have pushed me the way of the more reputable "GLOBAL" brands while a few others have said that Momsen have got good back-up service.

I'm looking at the overall package as i feel that upgrades e.g. wheels etc. come with the territory, as my fitness/racing increases so im not too worried about that now
