Expensive is not always better. When I was around 12 I had one of these http://www.old-compu...puter.asp?c=136 as a first computer. Only got a modern computer much later.

Looking back it was probably the best gift my parents have gotten me as a kid and I was very fortunate to properly get to learn programming at an early age.

I'll raise you.. zx81 with 16Kb Ram pack. The dog b**llocks until the spectrum came along. My first programming was:

Line 10: Print "hello"
Line 20: Go to 10

Utterly brilliant for precisely 1 second.
