Can I ask a stupid question?

What is a 14 year old doing on facebook?

I know it's a stupid question, cause I have custody of the 10 year old and the 6 year old, and they don't even have cell phones.
Now you've given me a problem. Do I ignore your question as I'm now an observer to Hubbers' views? Or do I jump in á la the highest IQ Hubber?

Facebook is used by 2 of my kids, both girls, since age 12. Not sure it's legal at 12 but that was as long as we could wait in their peer group. Both parents are friends and we have set boundaries in place. One major limit is that they cannot friend people they have not physically met. They load photos and post mindless posts about what they are doing with their friends when the photo clearly shows what they are doing.

On cell phones, eldest girl got her BB at 13. Her choice of phone as 49/52 girls in her grade have that platform.

2nd child got her BB at 12 by which she was almost last in her grade to get a phone. Again, her choice of platform as the grade has standardised on BB.

They don't use airtime nor sms, BBM runs all day and they download music from some pirate sites that forms part of their world.

I prefer BBM as it is approval based and we can monitor contacts/friends without the need to share phone numbers.

Other IM platforms are forbotten, as is mixit. I also have control of the apps loaded through appworld.

10 is a bit young Bob, our younger kids are pushing but they have to wait till 12.

Edit: added photo loading on facebook

Sorry, ducky, I disagree.
There is evil! It's actual, like cement... I can't believe it. I can't stand it. Evil is not a view... it's an ingredient in us. In the world. Poured over us, filtering into our bodies, minds, hearts, into the pavement itself.Posted Image

I'll admit there is one topic I know nothing about: Mac.

What Mac would i get for my 14 year old child? School projects, photos, a few games (both web based and local) and of course FaceBook.

Any help appreciated.
I would get a 14 year old a Choc Caramel MacFlurry... :)

You may disagree as did I BUT you may be in for one hell of a surprise in a couple of years time. Unfortunately girls 12 until about 16 may as well have horns. The more attractive they are, the worse it gets.

Hold the reigns too tightly and you could be in for a full scale rebellion. You have to have control without it appearing as though there are too many restrictions. Still, even if you try to do everything exactly right there is no guarantee of always having a good outcome. It will look like they are angels but can be manipulating you all the way.

To answer the OP.

I would say Macbook (Cheaper and more simple) or iMac if it doesn't need to be portable. (Mini Mac is also cool if you just want the Mac platform and not the look and feel that comes with a Mac, unless you buy an apple screen, keyboard and mouse, but then you might as well get an iMac).
