I find listening to music while riding a pretty interesting topic. I personally don't do it for the safety reasons and because I like "hearing" my bike. On the roads it obviously poses a few dangers in that you cannot hear vehicles and the like. The same applies to a certain extent on the trails. I was behind someone the other day who was clearly oblivious to my presence as a result of having head phones in.

EDIT: If I did it would probably be some proper "old school" rock music like Metallica. I also just noted this is in the gravity section so it might be different for you guys :)

only hazardous on the trails if you're slow :P

haha! But yeah, when I commute to work I ride with 1 earphone in, the left,  so I can have my right ear free to listen for cars.

On the trails I usually use both or nothing.

As for the type of music... here's some bands on my playlist
  • Biffy Clyro
  • Queens of the Stone Age
  • Them Crooked Vultures
  • Sum 41
  • AFI
  • Sam Champion
  • Kasabian
  • Alice in Videoland (Just the one song off Follow Me)
  • Zuku
  • Arctic Monkeys
  • Billy Talent
  • Deviates
  • Dropkick Murphys
  • Nine Black Alps
  • Foo Fighters
  • NOFX
  • Pennywise
  • Saves the Day
  • Rage Against the Machine
  • The Bronx (the song Inveigh really gets me amped)
  • Wolfmother
So yeah, I have selected songs from those bands (and more) on my iPod, as my "riding music". For DH runs though... NO MUSIC! You need all your wits about you.

But if you really want to feel like a winner... Listen to Eye of the Tiger

AN awesome band called Rise Against, and Indie rock
while our story doesn't follow a straight line, we all end up in the same place. Tire to ground, foot to pedal, hand to bar – communities drawn together by trails of dirt.

Well, this weekend is the jock... SO we make a cd before every race... The race mix. The rules are simple. It has to be a standard cd (no MP3), and anything goes, except excessive swearing. This weekends mix is:

1. Intro - Bicycle Race - Queen
2. Sail - Awolnation
3. Nickleback - Savin Me
4. Grounds for Divorce - Elbow
5. TNT - ACDC
6. You got the love - Florence and the machine
7. My Immortal (rock version) - Evanessence
8. Run Baby Run - Sheryl Crow
9. Knocking on heavens door - Guns and Roses
10. All these things I have done - The Killers
11. Pyro - Kings Of Leon
12. Stars (2011) - Roxette
13. Cant Stop - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
14. When we stand together - Nicleback
15. Gold on the Ceiling - The Black Keys
16. Bodyrock - Moby
17. Titanium - David Guetta
18. Good Feeling - Flo Rida
19. Bangarang - Skrillex
20. Sorry for Party Rocking - LMFAO
