Any other anglers out here?

I do a lot of angling in summer time, targeting mostly sharks(all tag and release)
So far i am standing on close to 200 tags for the last 2 years.
Here's some great memories of fish lost and special days next to the water, not the biggest but special in some or other way

Yup I am one. Those with a Bambi complex may come in here, while munching on their fish and chips,.......... They will mos never slag Nemo for making fish and chips.

I flyfish, fresh and salt. I prefer Yellowfish but wit barbless flies. I practice only catch and release. I also do dropshot with light tackle.

I have amazing memories of fishing in Angola in the Namibe region of the westcoast.

BTW, is it the work of the taxman on that hook??

Must admit - have been fortunate enough to do a couple of deep sea fishing trips and managed to land myself a record Queen off St Lucia a while back. The fishing thing can bite hard to!

+1

That is without a doubt the best spot in SA...sighting fishing to yellows, doesn't get much better than that. Do the vaal in the warmer months(chuck nymphing) and do a anual trip with the manne to the eastern cape or dullstroom rivers for some wild troot. Lots of single malt, meat and good times yea. Tying is another great aspect of fly fishing I really enjoy, but that is a topic on its own.

Lived in Natal(Toti) for about 10 years, did lots of rock and surf fishing back then....especially this time of year...sards + lifted shark nets = big fish. I still maintain that a freshly caught shad cleaned sommer in the tidal pool...braaied on the spot is the best seafood there is(knocks the socks of crayfish etc). There was this legend in toti(oom piet skiet) that lit his mini braai on inyoni rocks as the first shad comes out, no matter who caught it, it will be braaied by him...sorry for you. Inyoni rocks taxman

Best scrap I ever picked up...garrick aka leervis...using live shad as bait.

My problem with fishermen is not the actual fishing, except of course when they take more than their allocated catch or keep under size fish, but rather the crap a lot of them leave lying around on the beach and on the rocks.
Enjoy playing devil's advocate...

Clint i have the same problem with guys leaving their **** behind but not everyone's like this

Guilty,,,,not even a little i shot my first kudu when i was 8 and still do hunting and fishing as much as i can
And by the way i grew up in Etosha game reserve, 1992 we moved to SA and my parents started working in Kruger, where they still are
I spend alot of my time in the bush and i think i know enough not to get in a stupid argument with a guy like you that probably only knows what he knows because of TV..
Please stay off this good fishing thread and go play somewhere else
Shot
