Hi All
I took almost a 5 month break after a bad crash in Feb this year. I slowly want to start riding again but perhaps not as structured and dedicated as in the past. I was fit and in good form when i stopped. Since then i focussed more on some gym work and low intensity cardio a few times a week. In this time my bodyfat dropped from 12 to about 7% so physically i'm not in bad shape.
My question: How long does it take to get back in relatively good riding shape? Would i have lost all riding fitness in this period or does muscle memory play a big role. I remember when i started cycling about 6years ago it was really hell. I am not keen going through all that again
Input would be much appreciated
Thanks
Back in saddle after break

Muscle memory places a role but your lungs will still burn.
Your age will be an important factor and what cardio were you doing?Running and swimming help cycling.

No running or swimming. Couple of spinning classes but mostly did time post weight training on the treadmill walking at incline at 120-130bpm or the eliptical walker at the same bpm

Your core should be pretty strong from the gym so you just need to work on saddle time.If you take it slow you should be in pretty good shape in 3-4 months.
