I am assuming you have been involved with race organisation? More than once I have heard of 'land owners' refusing permission (previously given I might add) at the last minute ........ I know the ones around Walkerville as we train there almost every weekend and damn they can be cranky

It's because you ride like a hooligan and scare the cows ;-)
In this case I don't think 'lordporthcrawl' should feel to done in...I know the organisers and they definitly had to change the route at very short notice - not their fault really...

Say how much we enjoyed the event, then in the same breathe mention the possibility of legal action.

If I pay for a 60 km event and it ends up being 51.9 kms then am I entitled to feel like I've been shafted somewhere along the way ?
Anyone know if the Consumer Protection Act could be enforced against event organisers who do not fulfil the advertised distance for events ? Seems to me this is becoming a common occurrence.

This could be a new pricing model for all the bike parks - only pay for the distance you ride.
Or,
You can have a race, where you have a winner for each unique distance that is raced (rounded to the nearest km), you get to choose the distance by taking shortcuts or extra tracks, but if you do not win for that category, your race fee doubles.
