XBMC Has A Mind Of Its Own

For the last few years I have been using Windows Media Center with Media Browser to view my movies but have found it to be lacking in certain areas.

Recently I decided to try XBMC. I formatted the computer and re installed Windows Vista Home Premium and all it updates as well as XBMC (11.0 Eden). It took a while to set up all the libraries but I am really happy with the way it works. Browsing the library is much more responsive than it was with Media Browser.

The only problem I am having is the system seems to have a mind of its own. You will be watching a movie and all of a sudden it will pause, restart, mute, ffw or anything for no reason. Has anyone else had this kind of behaviour or know how to fix it?

I am not sure if its XBMC or perhaps the remote I am using although I used the same remote with media browser with no issues. I am using this remote:
