There is evil! It's actual, like cement... I can't believe it. I can't stand it. Evil is not a view... it's an ingredient in us. In the world. Poured over us, filtering into our bodies, minds, hearts, into the pavement itself.Posted Image

Thats a lot of chow for a race. I normaly only take 2 bottles juice and my spare tube and bomb. Have used gels in the past, but I feel that I then cosume too much energy and find that I then tend to cramp as well. Have a good healthy breakfast before the start and maybe have a banana on the start and one during the race if you need be

yeah, I normally eat a lot in a race. Just the way I do it, always have. I'm happy to finish with the Gu's unused and possibly a bottle but will chow the Banana / apple while waiting for the start. I'm only looking for a 3:30 so I'm not worried about the odd 200gms here and there. If I was probably would have dropped a bit of weight off me before my bike.

Constant debate I tinker with - good question. Current plan is:

Frame:
Edge 500
1x Bottle Hammer Perpetuem, 3 hour mix
1x Bottle water - plan 1 quick refill stop at least busy point I see from top of Smits to Slangkop. Hope to avoid 2nd stop unless really hot
1x Lezyne mini pump (wonderful bit of kit for the small size)

Jersey:
3x Hammer Gel - Expresso I'll take 15 mins before start, 1 other on ride, 1 spare
2x bars of some kind (probably Jungle or Balance)
1x sachet Perpetuem just in case I end up riding much longer than expected for some reason

Saddle bag:
2x spare tubes
1x small Lezyne small with chain-breaker
2x tyre levers
1x home brew tyre boot
1x glue patch kit (what can I say, I'm a pessimist and have had more than 1 puncture on a ride!)

I carried cooked potatoes on my 1st Argus, and despite sounding disgusting they were great. Might swap the jungle bars for those.

Haha - thx. The funny thing is, I keep forgetting to put it back on my bike. Thanks for the reminder!

About 10kg's of whiskey, champers and good food accumulated around my abdomen from years spent with my mates rather than being on the bike!!

I like too keep my set-up weight down by taking a massive dump before the race.

Only have one bike, the timing chip is so heavily cable tied to my forks and has never left it's spot that it classifies as a permanent fixture. :)

I was going to carry a banana, but I think I will just steal one from a little boy at the side of the road.
