Got this off twitter, as tweeted by Burry Stander:
" in mtb one is allowed to design your national champs kit. the one i have been racing in for a year at world cups was cleared by uci.
so to the 2nd placed team trying to get me dq'ed after this weekends tulbagh race, go read your rules. Love how sa riders bring each other down"
seems like its more hectic than I thought. I'm not up to date with all the rules and regulations, can someone please enlighten me what the issue could be? For me it seems like the "2nd placed team" had issues with the kit he wore. I have huge amounts of respect for both of these two riders. Could this just be the start of a psycological war between the two teams before the Epic?

Don't compare yourself to others, they are more screwed up than you think

Just like at the 2009 Epic when Burry pretzelled his front wheel. Who do you think complained to the UCI about Max Knoxx getting a lift on a quad after giving Burry his wheel?

Notice how it says 2nd place team. Evans, as far as I've seen, was gracious in defeat after the race.

Just read Burry Standers tweets about the 2nd place team at Tulbagh trying to get him disqualified for the shirt he wore.
Anyone else have more info ? Or opinion ?

@garyperkin: @africanmtbkid so a team wants to beat you by the kit you wear as opposed to pedalling harder? What is this paris fashion week? HTFU I say

Unless he's made his shirt out of some sort of shark skin material like Ian Thorpedo wears that enhances his performance, I don't see how wearing his kit made any diff.
An exception to this rule is wearing a Yellow TDF jersey - that automatically gives you the strength of ten men.

I wonder if Kevin is behind this, he is usually the first to accept defeat and congratulate the winner, he does not come accross as a sore loser.

Probably more the driving sponsor making the protest, time will tell. I doubt Kevin would lodge a clothing complaint unless it was shimmery silver and it blinded him in the sprint.

It's not about the bike, its about the shirt! Must get me one of those Burry shirts to improve my riding...
No really, this sucks - will lose a lot of respect for "2nd team" if its true. Whats the point anyway, as far as I know Burry would not be competing in the whole series anyway? (might be wrong about this)
