It recently happened in motorsport when a new motorsport association started (WOMZA) and MSA challenged them in court.

MSA lost the big court battle to WOMZA and both exist today.

We have already looked into this. All the Multisport EO's in SA met a few months ago and had discussions with the Dept of Sport and Recreation. Unfortunately Motorsport got away with it through a technicality, but we have been assured from Sascoc that no other national body can be formed and will be recognised by them.

- We couldn't agree more on this. We (EO's)  have been made the sole funders for TSA (as Lotto pays for equipment) and we are not happy about being the cash flow for a national body, Sponsors should be sort by them to boost the sport.

Anyway, this is only something new to you, but we have been battling this for over 18 months now with TSA and no joy, so rather than working against then, we are now trying to work with them... sort of!

Come 1st Sept 2012 buy an annualy TSA lic and lets hope that if we get enough registered athletes the TSA charges on events will drop and we can keep our entry fees down!!

Does the sport triathlon belong to them then?  Do they own it?

What if you hold a different competition with a different format?  Say Run 10km first, then swim 1km and then cycle 35km, is it still triathlon etc?

What about basic human rights of an athlete?  Am I not allowed to do these three disciplines together for fun without paying other people money?

I think you must start holding non-competitave events in which an entry fee is required but only to cater for the expenses you guys undertake.  99% of guys dont give a **** for the prize money, I just want a lekker fun day out with some fellow athletes....

Quick question,what distance do you swim in your training sessions for the 5150?

I will only start to swim mid August.  And I wont swim more than 1km at most.
