not sure if this should be here or in the safety section.

Those that ride on North Rand rd in the mornings. this is for you.

This morning I was off to the airport real early. It was before 5am and there were a number of groups of cyclist on the road. At first I was a little irritated that the guys were taking the entire left lane, but I let it slide because there was hardly any traffic.

Then on the way back from the airport (about 5:15) I came across another group, this time there was a guy on a MTB on the far right of the group, he was clearly struggling, but what p'd me off was that he kept moving over into the right hand lane. So as I got within 50m of them I gave a short tap of the hooter to let them know there was a car around. Well clearly that was wrong as there was swearing as they came past me whilst I was stopped at the next red light.

and 2 more things guys
1) red lights, STOP DAMMIT. On that road I even stop at green lights, and thats in the car with a few 100kgs of steel around me and multiple airbags. Why ? because the idiot motorists dont give a damn, and the cover of darkness seems to make the number of idiots multiply exponentially.

2) red lights again. but this time those at the back of your bike. Whilst most of you had bright fast flashing ones, a few of you had dim and / or slow flashing ones, these dont work so well, sort them out.

As a cyclist, nothing gets my blood boiling like an inconsiderate cyclist. :cursing: :cursing: . Tired of hearing "YOU cyclist, this and that" from family and friend.

I think we may be preaching to the converted on this forum though.

Not so sure about this though ............................. topic will get to perhaps 15 to 20 posts and then we will see a poster either defending the offense or using the all time favourite, used by 10 year old's all over the world, " everybody does it".

Which just goes on to prove that in SA more people still die from stupidity than from Aids!

Probably the okes that meet at TDF and at the garage opposite TDF!!! Stopped riding with them a long time ago due to their disregard for roadrules. Especially on that piece of road you mentioned, that someone hasn't died is an absolute miracle.

Then there is the group with the infamous rider without helmet, their just as bad!!! (Please dont tell him, he has been known to eat babies for performance enhancement)

Believe me I have seen them for many years. Glad Im not on the road anymore!!!
It wasn't me!!!!

Fark steaks. They are the worst of the worst.

(for the record, he doesn't ride with them much anymore...)

It's not all TdF riders. I have seen many wobbles of cyclist meet there in the morning. Not all at the same time.

Hehehe. Yeah, an archaic one. But seems to fit the OP's rant.

They seem to meet at the BP on North Rand Road at around 5am.

They probably think that they are safer in big groups, hence the aggro behaviour and that motorists MUST be considered of them and be nice to them while they behave in an unworthy manner.
