The issue with 8ta is coverage and stability. I have one at home and it varies from GREAT to a total pain in the *rse. Some days it is just so unstable. I have to unplug the modem and reconnect and it MIGHT connect and then 10 minutes later I have to spend another 10 minutes disconnecting and reconnecting. Quite annoying to say the least! Then it will work like a dream for a week. A thought is before you tie yourself into a long term contract, go buy their 2+1GB prepaid promo. Try it and then if it works well, get a contract.
MTN & VODA offer much better coverage but pricing isn't nearly that attractive. Check out their sites for details. Nothing comes close to 8ta. Cell C is in the middle.
My suggestion is if you are considering 3G, check your coverage for the preferred network and budget in the cost of an antenna (www.poyntingdirect.co.za). Usually makes a BIG difference.
Consider iBurst as well if you have coverage where you are located. Not nearly as fast but tends to be VERY stable. PM me if you need details.

And if you are in a good coverage area, and your 3g modem is up to it, 8ta 3g is fockin fast.

If its fooking fast then then its probably HSPA, not 3G.
I've got a tower next door on top of the church. I was getting stupid speeds from the 8ta dongle

Stay away from iBubbles, CatWomen will derail this thread with her experience.
On MTN/Vodacom/CellC/8ta it all depends on your coverage. Get a prepaid sim and try the network out first.
