at 36Km/h - 23 laps of 1.7Km..... probably more as they ride at higher speeds....... 40Km/h is 25 laps (I added the 'plus one lap' for these numbers)

Last years Elites averaged 40km/hr as the route is flat albeit slightly technical. My avg isn't as impressive but there is a lot of competition no matter what your fitness level :)

Century City Criterium
Date: 4 March 2012
Venue: Century City

The Century City Criterium is hosted annually by City Cycling Club as part of the Century City
Property Owners Association Sports Festival. The 1.7km circuit is closed off to traffic for
the duration of the racing event and therefore making the event as safe as possible. The event
kicks off at 8.00am with the City Cycling Club Criterium Championship for City Club Members.
This is followed by other category races and culminates in the main race of the day, the
Elite cycling teams who will race for 1 hour + 1 lap. The inter-club challenge,
the 3rd race of the day, is a new addition to the programme of races - we have invited
all of the clubs of the WPCA to take part in this race and we trust this will ignite
and foster healthy inter-club competition.

Prize Money
Elites - 1st (R2000), Elites - 2nd (R1500), Elites - 3rd (R1000)
Other Categories - 1st, 2nd, 3rd (Dependent on Total Entries)

Order of Events - Estimated Times
City Cycling Club Champs - 7.50am to 8.15am
U14 / U16 - 8.25am to 8.55am
Inter-Club Challenge - 9.00am to 9.30am
Open PPA - 9.45am to 10.30am
