Targets can be hit at more than a mile already with one of these .338 Lapua Mag rifles ;)
The longest confirmed shot is 2475 meters in Afghanistan.

It's laser pointed so you will still need one guy to paint the target and one to shoot.

Darn sight easier than windage, 'noculars and some (practice) guesswork.

Loads of practice and calculations...no guesswork.
Sandia are still looking for backers and investors for the bullet so it will be a while before we see it on the battle fields.

Geez that bullet is amazing! Now the whole concept of the "marksman" becomes spurious! If you can aim within a largish area of probability, the bullet will do the rest... and lasers need no adjustment for any windage, drop and the like.

I would hate to be a baddie when these break cover.

I would love to see this for a 20 or 50mm machine gun.No tracers or guess work just 20 bullets into your target

Thing is that the baddie's (USA) will have it before anyone else.
