So I check my electricity account for this month and notice an amount of R370 on it and next to it deposit due. I check last month's account and sure enough there is an amount of R384 on it for deposit due. The reason there is a R14 difference is because I over paid last month by R14. So I wonder what the "deposit due" means. I check their website and I find this: Adjustments will apply if double the monthly average consumption exceeds the minimum deposit on hand, or when the consumer proves to be a credit risk. Funny, as I have never ever in the 4 years that I have stayed here consumed more the double the monthly average. As for the credit risk, not a chance in hell. In four years I have never missed an payment. In fact I even over paid last month! I send them a mail to enquire WTF! I are awaiting their response.

Just keep in mind that e-mailing is the second worst way of communicating (after sending a mime to their offices to deliver a verbal message). ;)

And the worst way would be to just slap the amount on your bill without warning?

My wife got back home yesterday from a trip to Durbs, so I ask her for the L&W account so that I can pay it.
R35 093.99 .
The breakdown is water about R30 000.00 plus Vat.
So I ask her to read the meter, and give me last months reading, Last months reading is 325 m3, Her reading is 1409 m3 .
Something wrong there so I ask her to read the neighbours meter. 344 m3.
Turns out that from July they have been reading the neighbours meter instead of ours, this month they read ours.
It cost my wife most of the day in the queue at the municipality to get it sorted, and maybe it has been. We will see.. . . . .

Bit different here in the country, the meter readers come round to read the meters but I (and probably anyone who lives on a farm/plot) do not let them in. We go through the moaning process every time but they get given the readings and we also email them through. Half the time the clowns don't even have their meter computer thing with them and they just jot down the readings on a scrap of paper. Last lot had a bakkie that looked as though it was stolen in Lesotho and could barely write! No wonder their are soooooo many problems with accounts in this country...

mate of mine has started an injection moulding business. Has a big ass machine that runs 3 phase and supplies a bunch of little machines with power to do other things.
Anyway, things are not up and running yet, but he is busy with the commissioning of the machine.
2 weeks back the meter guys cut power to the entire mini factory complex, after fights etc. with the council it get connected again.

My mate then gets some experts in to assist commissioning of the machine and all of a sudden the hydraulics are not working, they were working before.
lots of swearing and thinking some expensive stuff has broken. but since this was discovered late friday it was decided to leave it until monday.
during the weekend someone suggests that the motor is turning the wrong way. True as nuts, it was.
turns out the monkeys that reconnected the power at the meters wired it up wrong.
