Hi

How do you join the racing vets?
I know age is one. Do you apply for a racing lic and there you go or do you get an mail informing you that you must race with the vets?

Thanks

Register online at CSA for a racing licence, pay the relevant fees and wait for confirmation - that's assuming you already belong to a club.

Then enter your next race and select "CSA Licensed Vets"
Depending on your seeding, you might not get a ride though - all depends on if there's space in the batch and where your seeding places you.

Agreed, but as geraldm24 says, it doesn't automatically include you in the Vets bunch - it still places you there on merit. If there is only 500 spaces in the bunch and you are, say number 510, you will be seeded in the normal bunches.

Just saying that you may waste your money by getting a racing licence if you don't have a chance in getting the racing group you want.

Edit: and I am assuming you want to do this for the Argus?

My past 3 races I saw that my time is good enough to race with the vets. Thinking of getting an earlier start in the races.

Most of the local (GP) races are not fully subscribed

Much faster, much harder. Be prepared to sh1t bullets and bleed into your chamois.

Is the bleeding into chamois not linked to hemorrhoids?
All bicycles weigh fifty pounds. A thirty-pound bicycle needs a twenty-pound lock. A forty-pound bicycle needs a ten-pound lock. A fifty-pound bicycle doesn't need a lock...

Let me tell you something for nothing. Unless you are right up their with the top Vets, you are going to have one hell of a hard ride. I got into Vets for the 94.7 a few years ago (I have had raced quiet a few other races as a Vet) but decided to drop back to a lower group (I group). Had a great ride and finished with the bunch in 2h44. I was able to keep up with the steady but fast pace all the way. The Vets are racing snakes, so even if your times are good enough for a Vets seeding, be prepared.

Open A bunch is a lot easier than VA.
There are a lot more strong guys in VA taking turns at dishing out the pain.

If the idea is to just sit and get pulled along to a fast time, then it is not too difficult on the flatter races.
If the Idea is to get involved in the racing, then it is a whole other level

As an example, In the VA bunch you can try your luck at taking on Jacques Fullard or James Louter in a sprint finish
