On a side note, I rode passed Burry when he was out training yesterday.

Nasty crash from Bronzini...
Conditions are crazy, wind, sand storms and guttering...
Cherise lost a lot of time on stage one (as did 90 percent of the peleton), but had a very good 2nd stage taking 11th!
Here's a pic of her in the new Lotto kit.

Cherise Taylor gives her view of stage 2 in Qatar (Women's race):
After yesterday's very windy stage I thought that stage no.2 could only get better. Well i was in for a surprise. On the way to race we went through another sandstorm and realised that today will be another tough day in the office.
We started of with a tail side wind and the girls went flat out from the word 'go'. The bunch splitted really quickly and I was sitting a bit too far back and missed the front group. After a really hard chase we cought the first bunch around 30km and had an avg speed of 54km/h. Then we turned...
We now had a head side wind and with 9girls up the road the pace was still on. We turned on about 45km into a really strong side wind and we all really struggeld to keep our bikes on the road (most of girls couldn't). The group split into smaller bunches and we were now about 30girls chasing the front 9. We made contact with the front girls with 20km to go and immediatly the counter attacks started. I hung on for life and death. Judith Arndt and Trixi Worrack broke clear with Kirsten Wild and Adri Visser on their heels. We were now racing for 5th place. I knew i am not once of the fastest sprinters so I tried going with some of the attacks however nothing went clear. It came down to the sprint and I managed to get 11th place. It is still early season and with this being my first international race since world champs I am pretty happy with how the form is coming is along. Tommorow is the last stage and i am really hoping for the wind to die down a bit.
Kind regards
Cherise Taylor

weird type of question to ask, but when they say sandstorm, just how sandy is it ? Do they ride in the storms ?

I think that last pic shows how bad it was.
And remember, this was sandy and windy enough to call off the Qatar master's golf tournament. The wind was moving the golf balls on the fairways and greens.

Respect!
(feel for the mechanic that has to clean all that sand off)

Seems the winds covered the entire Mid-East over the weekend! Had the pleasure of riding in that yesterday but avoided the "desert" part of town. The black hair on my arms was yellow/brown from all the sand. The wind was so bad the missus was complaining about controlling the car on the road. Good practice for the Argus though!

I doubt you'll see any of the women's race here, but supersport usually has live coverage of the mens tour.
