@wanna-be When you entered this race you entered in the category of Licensed Vets. In future enter in Open Seeded and you will be seeded according to your seeding of 37.

The better your time is in comparison to the winning time the better your seeding will get. In other words that 37 will continue to drop. The lower the seeding number the higher your start bunch. For Example a 37 seeding should get you a start in around E Group whereas a 15 seeding will get you a start in A group. Hope this makes sense and helps a bit

To be on the safe side if this is only your second race I would recommend that you NOT ride VA. I think you should rather fall back to a D or E group start and enjoy it there

For a more enjoyable experience, why not drop back to a non-racing bunch? B is generally quite fast but without the surges and attacks that go with the VA//C & A groups.

You don't need to do anything - you can always drop down without a problem

Last year I could not hang with the leaders of the A bunch(41.4km/h) and I averaged 38.3km/h.

No VA bunch last year in the Emperors race, but for last year's 94.7 the winning avg speeds for VA was 39.6 vs A at 38.5
You need to search for Cat2 - that was the group of Vets (the fastest 150 Vets, irrespective of age, by seeding).
After the change last year, they're back to VA/VB/VC

All the Elites (at the least the BIG guns) were in PE doing SA Champs, so it was a diluted Elite field - just like the Bakwena in 2009

You can drop down to whatever bunch at own discretion. No need to confirm/organise this. Timing mats at start will pick up your chip and re-allocate your start time to that of the group you cycle with.

So I was literally a couple of minutes to late to do the online entry, I was just hectically busy with work last week. I now need to do a line entry, what are the chances of myself getting the correct seeding? I am normally a A-bunch starter

Drop to B group and keep with the guys as long as you can this will help bring down your index. You might find it not so bad. Just enjoy it.
