Hi,

Does anyone know of a dirt road route that one can follow from Strandfontein and finish in Melkbos? I would like to do a three day trip on my MTB.

Thanks

you mean cut across the N2 and brave khayelitsha? There probably is, just no one bothers. There's always the verge of the road <_<

Yes, and where do you plan to stay over?

I am sure it can be done in a day especially since you have to put foot through some of the suburbs, shiny bike and all.. oh, I'd stay OFF the R300.

I'm talking about the other Strandfontein, up the West Coast. Check the attached Map.
I want to ride Dirt Roads, National Parks Ect all along the coast and not inland.

I think there is a gravel service road all the way along the Sishen Saldanha railway line - you can pick it up at Strandfontein. From Saldanha I think you will have to go inland towards Darling where there are number of gravel district roads that will take you close to Atlantis - closer to the coast will just be sand. Not sure about the roads from there - again there is a raliway line from Atlantis to Cape Town that should have a service road next to it.

You can go straight from Strandfontien to Elandsbaai on a gravel road, but from there I do not know. I think you can ride next to the railway line on a service road from there to saldanha.
