Did my first race today, that being the Crazy Croc. Only did the 25km and I have to admit it was much harder than I expected.

The hill at 12km was a killer and I struggled to breath for at least 20mins after that. Didn't have my Polar with me, in the shop for battery and wriststrap, but I'm sure my heartrate would have been in the 110% zone for that section.

The downhill following directly after that was also very daunting, got off and pushed it for some sections.

Pushed my bike up on most of the climbs during the second part of the course, was just too exhausted, felt like it would never end.

Reasonably pleased at my time of 2h05 for a first timer.

How did you guys experience the course?

Well done for doing your first MTB race....... that's what matters.....pushing your bike at sections you not comfortable is a wise mans decision......Bravo,and enjoy the"dikwiel"experience !!

Also first crazy croc.I am fit enough to have done the 70km grabadoo on the 31 in good time but found this route disturblingly tough.there were no straight and level areas at all .Rust de winter time was 3h35.72km .Today 25km 1h50.I ran out of time to complete 50km.Had to be back PTA at noon.Very technical .I passed a rider on ss ,i think somebody should go fetch him

It was my first time at Redstone and definitely not my last. I rate it one of the best rides ever - this is why I started mountain biking! I did the 25km and also took strain up the hills. The downhills were epic though - my Gary Fisher HiFi Pro trail bike glided over those rocky descents :D I got a second wind at about 18km and finished 1h45 - still quite chuffed with my time.

Congrats guys, also my first ride on this trail and what a tuffie no? So glad I did the 25km because I've been toying with some easier longer rides like babbas. rides Awesome rocky ups and downs, this is how all races should be! We can all be proud of finishing this one for sure, just look at the amount of DNF on the results list..last chap came in after 5 hours so.

Love doing Redstone!!! It is a really tough loop and I take my hat off to those that do the 50km. I did the 25km loop in 1:26 and placed 2nd in class and 7th overall which I was very happy with... Maybe time to take on the second loop

Congrats guys...

i Also did the race and ya...the uphills got me!!!!

Also pushed most of the uphills and the downhills was awesome...however i lost my Cateye somewhere there and some GOOD bloke handed it in at the finish line. Thank you to that person who handed it in.....

However, not chuffed with myself, I finished the race in 2H25......

believe me, i'm practising for the next race which is the Krugersdorp one on the 14th of Feb. obviously wanting to better my time...

Just have to wait and see.

Happy riding out there people and stay safe...

PS: how many of you saw the guy doing the race barefeet???? Bliksem!!!!!
