A rider from the Cyclelab East Rand training group was knocked off his bike this morning @ 6h30 on Rondebult near N17.
The driver tried to flee the scene but turned into a cul-de-sac. He turned around and sped back towards the cyclists. One cyclist threw his bike at the car to try and stop him, shattered the car windscreen in the process. Driver was apprehended through quick thinking by Werner from Cyclelab who chased after him by car. The police took the driver away in a van.
Cyclist was taken away to hospital and appears to be okay.

Glad the cyclist is ok.
Quick thinking all round, well done on getting the driver. Great opportunity to make an example of him/her.

There are currently 4 posts under "current posts" about cyclists being killed or run over!

Was just seeing that myself? effing hell man!! Is it just the drivers or are these cyclists just doing it wrong? I think it is the former, but am sure the latter applies to some that don't make it to the hub.

What a move to stop the motorist from fleeing!

If the insurance company did pay out, they'd be buying some serious credit with the cycling community. But then they aren't known for quick thinking.

Great to hear the cyclist is alright, and awesome to hear the idiot driver was arrested, I hope the Police can deal with him accordingly.

This is insane, the first three topics on thehubsa at the moment are all three related to cyclist getting creamed by cars. When will it stop?

this thread is useless without pics. What does a car look like after a bike has been thrown through the windscreen?

I would just say the car was coming straight at me and had to bail! Its not like the driver is a credible witness anyway!
