I recently ordered a part from Evans cycles in the UK (www.evanscycles.com)

The part was not offered by CRC and the local agents don't bring that model in (just mentioning for those who may comment about why I didn't buy local, blah blah blah).

The part was approx R750, so I'm guessing the "free shipping" which they offer on parts over R635 is via Royal Mail. Can anyone confirm this?

This morning I got a confirmation email that my order had been dispatched. Upon reading the email I noticed the address they listed was quite abreviated from the address I gave them.

(Example doesn't contain real address, as I have a fear of being stalked)

what I put into the form on the site, and what displays on my account Order History:

Mr Patches
Unit A, None-of-your Business Park
123 Main rd
Johannesburg
Gauteng
South Africa
2133

what the email stated as the delivery address:

Mr Patches
Unit A, None-of-your Business Park
Johannesburg
2133
ZA

Seeing that concerned me as the street is missing, and therefore the Business park may be impossible to find.

Has anyone else ordered from Evans Cycles and had a similar concern? Did everything work out ok?

Sup Bud

I ordered from Evans & mates as well, but was clothing so we sent to addresses in UK and all was successfully shipped there.

As for local addy, i see your concern, have you mailed them about it?

My rule of thumb now is send it to my PO Box, too many issues having them bring it to a business, i've had questions on whether it's a business thing etc from the JIMC. Also for bigger orders, paying cash to the courier is just a ball ache?

Sure you know, if you have the int track number, call JIMC to see if it's arrived and maybe get it there instead of the dispatch to your office park at unknown street.

Good luck!

I've order twice from Evans (both times shoes and with free delivery). First time they delivered via FedEx and arrived in like 5 days. Second time they sent via Royal Mail and took 3 weeks... to their credit they refunded me the money and when the item did arrive, I notified them and they didn't charge me again.

So seems like it's the luck of the draw...

I've ordered from Evans Cycles with mixed results:

I ordered a stem that was sent via Royal Mail, but was incorrect. They sent a replacement via Royal Mail that got lost. They didn't have a tracking number, so they sent another replacement which arrived. All took about two weeks to arrive.

I ordered a crank that arrived via Royal Mail, but it was the wrong one. I sent it back and after a number of stuff-ups on their side, eventually got a refund and a goodwill voucher.

I've also had stuff sent to the UK and bought from them in-store.

I think they send the lower value free stuff via Royal Mail and the higher value stuff via Parcelforce etc.

I suspect your address won't be too much of a problem: the postal code will get it to the right Post Office and the postman their probably knows the area well enough to know where your office park is.

hmmm... well I mailed them this morning, no reply yet, but I guess it is only 10:20ish that side (maybe earlier, I never know with daylight savings).

Unfortunately no tracking number... hence me suspecting Royal Mail Fail.

Thanks for the advice. I hope it comes soon!

FedEx free shipping... man, why couldn't I get that deal! It's going to be a long 3 weeks!

My order just so happens to be a stem... they better send the right one (it being a 1.5" steerer stem).

As for the post man... our offices are adressed as a "business park" but it's more just offices with 2 buildings. So I don't know if he'll find it. I may have to visit the post office weekly and check their parcel log for my name.

Man I wish CRC had that stem in stock! They're far from perfect, but it's the devil I know

I had the same address issue. I emailed them and they assured me all is well. After 3 weeks I still had no package and I emailed again. They re-sent the package no quibbles. 5 days later I had my package. A month after that, the first package rocks up at the local post office... So my experience with Royal mail wasn't great. Evens really did try to sort out the issue.

I bought my track bike from them, arrived fine with UPS. I have also had items shipped by them to UK addresses, free, also fine, and bought from their stores when in London.
So far so good, I am currently waiting for a set of wheels to be dispatched.
