The online entries for the 2012 ASG Trans Baviaans 24hr MTB Marathon are now open!! Entries are available on the website www.transbaviaans.co.za. Remember, entries are limited to 400 teams only and due to the popularity of the event, for the last 2 years in a row, limits have been reached way before the closing date !! Don't think about it, you maybe too late.

How does the organisers justify more than a 14% increase in the cost of doing this event when the offering stays average? Remember this fee excludes your "reserve" fee, pasta meal and if you pay with a credit card they slam you with another 6% fee on top of your entry fee. And I KNOW that that is not the fee the bank is charging! Come on Ecobound, we as riders commit to your event, but it seems your commitment to us does not stay in line with your financial demands from us!

Fees and increases is always a problem. Looking at the Baviaans entry fees you also need to keep in mind that for the last two years (since 2010) no increases (0%) were made to the entry fees for the event. In the meantime everything else increased, some more drastic than others, and we had no option but to increase the fees for 2012. We will however in future consider an annual, lower %, increase to avoid a sudden increase of +-14% with every two year interval. As far as the credit card payments is concerned, the online banking provider charge us with a 9% surcharge on every credit card transaction made throug hthis system. The main reason is for the provision of a secure online system which will safeguard the credit card user. We carry 3% of this charge and the entrant the other 6%. If this option is a problem then there is still the EFT option which does not have any additional charges.

Can't wait for my 3rd Transbaviaans experience, the fees are worth being able to ride through a truly spectacular part of our country and experience the hospitality of the Eastern Cape locals. I only hope for warmer weather this year

Rode my first TB in 2011; looking forward to hopefully doing the real TB this year through the kloof if weather permits. Definately the 1st race inserted onto my 2012 calendar, the R1400 per rider is fair for the type and nature of this race.

Weather was extremely cold last year hehe...  Was an excellent race though.  Make sure you pack dry clothes in your boxes...  You have to organise accommodation yourself and you will have to do it soon since Willowmore is quite small...  I also hope it is not necessary to do the Langsbaviaans this year hehe... Groot rivier poort is nie jou maat nie!

Can't wait for my second TB!!!
EcoBound, any chances you can put up a little tent or something at the top of the mountain? For the ladies (like me) who are very shy and needs a place to change to dry clothes. I know the toilets are there, but you know how they look after a few hours and when its dark (yukky)
Everything else is perfect and everything well organised! Thanks for a great event!!
