It looks like the Event will happen on the 11th Feb. No info yet on web site - sure it will be same route as last year.

http://www.99er.co.za/

123km + 50km
Riders on the 123km route leave the Durbanville Racecourse and pedal via back roads down St Johns Rd. Turn right at circle towards Durbanville centre then left at next circle onto Koeberg which becomes Adderley Street. After 17 km turn right at T-junction (the 50km riders turn left at this point) then left toward silo’s. After silo’s turn right onto R304 toward Stellenbosch then left onto R312 towards Wellington. Turn left onto the R44, left onto the Agter Perdeberg Road pass the Boland landbou School and ride towards Malmesbury Road. Then turn left onto the R302. Turn right at Silos on R302.
Turn right onto the undulating Philadelphia road, pass the Adderley road turn-off and continue another 4km before turning left onto the Van Schoorsdrift/Old Malmesbury road. Turn left onto the N7 (caution: traffic for 2.6 km) and left again onto the challenging Vissershok road. Cross the Vissershok/Malanshoogte 4-way stop and start the 3 km rise, concluding with the infamous Vissershok climb. Turn right into Odendaal Street for the last climb up to the finish, with a 2 km neutral zone back to the Racecourse.

Scheduled, now confirmed, to be in France away with work.

Will most likely miss this one - 1 of my 2 'home' races. Arrrgh!

A lekka pic of the finish of this race.

The toughest finish on the Western Cape racing calendar, including the jaw-jarring Old Malmesbury Rd rollers, then Vissershok ascent & sting in the tail, Odendaal Rd (above in pic).
Just maybe the Cobra finish on top of OKW eclipses it... or not.

ooh, didn't enjoy this one this year

Had a mechanical on the long so I turned and got it sorted, (now 40km of riding done)
Had to TT back in the hope of starting with the 1st bunch of the short route but missed it by a lot.

Started in the second last of the 64km, solo-ed the 1st 45km at 40km/h with the wind.
Turned into the wind.
Died

Looks like they've changed the route and are going back to the longer 120km odd distance that it used to be. Says 123km this year.

Can already feel my muscles cramping at the thought of those extra 15kms ;) Think I'm gonna need to find a few mates to ride with so we can share some of the work

For sure - I found the 108km a test with that tough finish. This one is going to be even more so. Not sure if I'm excited or scared ;)

Did the Cape Cobra and the 99er this year I found the 99er harder.

The older version of the 99er was 121 kms in 2008 and the final 45 kms was the stretch between Malmesbury and Wellington Rd.

This route, however, is a superb test and more demanding.
