UPDATE

Since "going live" with donation requests and fund raising initiatives about two weeks ago, the response from family, friends, fellow cyclists and strangers alike has been humbling to say the least. So much so that we've managed to achieve our first objective of getting Tinkerbell into a clinic in the UK for IV treatments and 3 months' supply of medication (which is not yet available in SA). She leaves on Monday night (28/11) and our prayers and thoughts accompany her especially over the next 10 days. Posted Image

There have also been some very exciting fund raising developments due to the generosity and efforts of a specific Hubber, but we will reveal all within the next week or so once final arrangements are in place. Suffice to say it involves Mackem, a major cycling brand and ... wait for it, our LBS. Posted Image If you're in the market for a new 29 susser, or an autographed cycling top, watch this space!!! Our prayers and thoughts accompany you Tinkerbell!!! Posted ImagePosted Image

Hubbers - we've got an exciting fund raising initiative lined up!! Posted Image Details to follow during the week.

Fellow Hubbers

Thanks to the generosity of a Hubber and friend of Trix, a special deal from a major cycling brand, and Trix’s local bike shop, we are going to raffle a brand new Specialized 2012 Epic Comp 29’er valued at R32,500 by selling tickets at R100 each. Subject to confirmation, the draw is planned to take place on Tuesday 20 March 2012 at 18h00 at Cycles Direct in Table View.

A big thank you goes out to this Hubber for donating the bike, Specialized, and Cycles Direct in Table View, for co-ordinating the logistics of this Project Tinkerbell fund raising initiative for Trix Thompson.

Tinkerbell’s family truly has Specialized cycling blood in them, with her father at the age of 76 still riding his Specialized daily, whilst her brother Jaco Kellerman is a regular podium finisher at KZN MTB events on his Specialized.

To maximise our reach, we would like to sell raffle tickets virtually to Hubbers. If you are interested in purchasing one or more tickets, either advise here on this thread or PM me, and deposit R100 per ticket into Project Tinkerbell’s bank account using the reference “Hub Comp [Username]”. I will then personally allocate your ticket number/s by return post or PM once the monies reflect in the bank account.

The bank account details are:

ACC NAME: PROJECT TINKERBELL

BANK: STANDARDBANK

BRANCH: BAYSIDE

BRANCH CODE: 022209

ACC NO: 410130311

Alternatively, you can go into Cycles Direct in Table View to view the bike and purchase a ticket directly at the shop.

The winner drawn at the function does not need to be present to win the raffle, nor does the winner need to reside in Cape Town.

We appeal to the cycling fraternity for your support, and again would like to thank our Hubber, Cycles Direct and the team at Specialized for their support.

Please forgive me in advance, as I will be BUMPING this post from time to time to boost ticket sales.

Ditto. The way that friends and family have rallied to the cause has been touching to say the least.

Any news on how her treatment is going?
Out of the night that covers me,Black as the pit from pole to pole,I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance. My head is bloody, but unbowed.Beyond this place of wrath and tearsLooms but the Horror of the shade,And yet the menace of the years,Finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate,How charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate:I am the captain of my soul.

Tinkerbell returns from London on Friday morning and by then she'll have had 6 intravenous treatments which are essentially very potent detox treatments. I'm not sure how she's responded thus far or if it's too early to tell, but I'm sure Trix will give us a full de-brief over the weekend and then we can give you all an update. I do know that the treatment that Joost had in the US is also an option being considered under Dr Jody Pearl here in SA. Posted Image

Posted ImagePosted Image Can you ask Jaco to point his cycling mates in KZN towards this initiative as well? I Googled him and didn't realise what a well pedigreed cycling family you actually all are.
