Plyometric exercises, essentially most of those exercises you did as a kid at football or rugby practice, will benefit you in some way. The exercises would assist in keeping a better balance between cycling and non-cycling muscles thus reducing injuries. Doing the right exercises would also help strengthen the core, glutes & hip flexors.

try doing something called the "deck squat" for even more painful legs in the morning finish off with an explosive jump.
