Hi there!
My son is 16 years old and started actively participating in MTB competitions since the beginning of the year. We bought him a SBack Ventura and upgraded in July to a SBack Shift 1 which he treasures dearly (he should, its bloody expensive in my books).
Anyway, the reason for this fred is this – for Michael as newcomer to the sport to consistently achieve a top 10 result in his age group against young laaities that have been doing this sport for much longer and on more expensive equipment (some even sponsored) that my wallet can handle – absolutely brilliant and gifted.
He has won two local races in his age group (and at least finishing in the top 5 overall for all age groups) and consistently performs very well in races like the Nissan Series. He also achieved top 10 placing in the each of the three Gauteng MTB School League races and is overall 5th in the league. I support him from the sidelines with utmost pride and joy.
Good luck to the Waterkloof High School team for the National School MTB Series (including Michael, JC, Pottie, Popich, Chicken and all those laaities which names I can’t remember). I have aptly named them TEAM MIT (they’ll know what the acronym stands for).
My only wish is to be able to keep up with Michael one day…
