I wonder what the bosses at the ANC will make of giving juju the day off from his hearing to attend this judgement, and he wasn't even in court today?

Wasn't the other hearing postponed because of this one?

You know things aren't going your way when you have 2 separate court cases against you running concurrently...

The perfect outcome for the ANC to deflect heat off any decision to ban Juju, by them supporting an appeal of the hate speech ruling.

The other hearing was an ANC disciplinary, not a court case.

I wonder. It's a strange case. One part of the internal ANC charges against Malema is about alleged hate speech in his utterances about whites being criminals.

It's a hard one to call. The ANC itself has said they will appeal the ruling against Juju. And then you have Zuma saying Juju is not beyond salvation, and hinting that his expulsion is not the "objective" of the disciplinary. The only "objective" thing that most can agree on is that the man is objectionable.

By the way, flymango, did you know there's a book out by a former colleague of mine, Fiona Forde, called An Inconvenient Youth: Julius Malema and the 'New' ANC?
A "must read" book!!! Finished it in two days. If you want to better understand the state of the nation, our politics and how we got here, this is an excellent perspective. Scariest part was on the last page - we are not a rainbow nation but a rainbow notion. Whether we evolve to the nation from the notion will depend on the path we chose at the cross-road where we are in SA. Julius is an interesting dilemma - he is merely a conduit for the real political issue of our time, viz. African nationalism and closure from our colonial and apartheid history. But he'll be with us for a long time yet, no matter the outcome of his hearing.

I'm surprised nobody made any comments on the major headline from the past weekend. Beginning of the end or end of the beginning for Juju?

Oh, sorry, I listened to the NDCA judgement. I really like the way Ramaphosa speaks.

Has Juju got a lifeline coming his way as his suspension now only comes into effect after his mitigation???
