These days I only buy pods for my Nespresso, but some years ago I attended a coffee cupping in Holland at a trade show, it was hosted by Douwe Egberts and they were quite adamant you could keep their ground coffee in the foil zip lock bag in the freezer for about 4 months with no discernible loss of quality. The coffee never freezes so all you do is just haul it out the freezer, spoon out your requirements and put it back.
I figured as they made a world wide highly acclaimed coffee they should know what they were talking about, and I must say I did this for years, and it worked fine for me, I like different blends at different times so I usually had three or four packets open at any time and I personally never noticed any deterioration of the coffee, in aroma or taste.
I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather......not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car!.
