Yeah, and then he said that anyone can suffer from kidney failure, just like that, in your athletic prime. Guy needs a lifetime ban, and probably some jailtime.

put him in a cell and lets see if bubba's protein suppositories bring the colour back to his cheeks.
I did everything by the seat of my pants. That's why I got hurt so much.

Shame man. He's a ginger, that's all natural colouring for the poor boy.

Every '2nd chance' Ricco gets makes more of a mockery of the sport.

This guy makes GW Bush look like a genius. Here's a refresher:

  • 2005: wins some amateur races but can't get a contract with a pro team because his hematocrit is way abnormal. Jermoe Pineau has suggested Ricco has openly doped since he was a junior.
  • 2008: stage 4 of the tour, Ricco attempts to evade doping control, but gets stuck in traffic making his getaway. this makes him a focus for tour dope testers at every subsequent stage. A few stages later he is caught with the new test for CERA and ejected from the tour. He admits guilt, grasses up his source and hopes for a light sentence. A 2 year ban is handed down.
  • 2010, January, Ricco's partner and the mother of his child tests positive for CERA. Ricco publicly dumps her saying he'll only go back to her if she's cleared.
  • 2010, November, Ricco signs with Vacansoleil and terminally ill coach Aldo Sassi. "Riccò conceded that, with Sassi’s life expectancy not stretching beyond the middle of next year, he feels duty-bound to do the coach proud."
  • 2011 Vacansoleil sacks him after he's admitted to hospital due to cocking up a self-administered blood transfusion. Ricco admits attempting autologous blood doping to the doctor treating him. The doctor reports him to anti-doping authorities, but he denies having said anything of the sort, stating anybody can suffer from kidney failure.

Come on this guy is a complete clown, deceitful and thick as two short planks. Do you guys know his history?

Yeah, I know his history, its not important, we all make mistakes, heaven knows I have made my share.

I just think its easy to sit on the fence and criticize someone elses shortcomings, but wearing their shoes, and stumbling under their load, we too may falter.

I dont know, I hear you, but I think he is a seriously troubled young man, maybe some positive dicipline, goals and a stable private life will help.?
I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather......not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car!.

Maybe, but personally I hope he applies all those good things to another career path. I heard he has been doing some bartending lately.

The Italian Olympic Committee's Anti-doping Tribunal has suspended Riccardo Riccò, the CONI announced today, a move which will prevent the Italian from returning to global competition with his new team, Meridiana-Kamen.

Riccò sneaks into Italian sportif ride

Cyclingnews.com

Riccò is back in the headlines in Italy after sneaking into a sportif ride on Sunday to help his friends achieve a better result.

According to one of the event organisers who did not wish to be identified, Riccò joined the 163km Gran Fondo Prologo-Giovanni Lombardi after 10km, appearing from behind a house. He then helped his friends by working to close the gap on a group of breakaway riders.

Despite being told to leave the event by other participants, Riccò rode the whole course and then even had the nerve to use the shower facilities provided by the organisers at the finish in Voghera, near Milan. At that point he was ordered to leave the event by the organisers.

There you go, all you lot who said give the arsehole a second, third, fourth chance. Once a cheat, always a cheat. A cobra doesn't change its spots, does it? Lifetime ban for this ginger menace is what's in order.

ginger ninja knows no limits - take away the pro tour license and he's off to the local amateur races to cheat there. XD

 - Yeah, not whats expected indeed.

Although I have to say until now I thought it was only a SA issue where some guys jump out from behind a few bushes 5 or 10 kms into the race and join the event as non payers.

Often they will participate in the after race refreshing cup of Energade (with a complimentary bee inside) and ride off home, wouldnt be surprised if they grab a medal too, so it seems we are not alone and it happens there too, I guess there are race thieves everywhere hey.

...but I agree poor form, I dont think it deserves a tar and feathering, :) but poor form indeed.

Heavens, no. Not that far. Just a ban and some broken joints was my recommendation.

even as one involved in race organisation, I do feel for them with the ridiculous race entry fees... Note, not condone, but I do see why.

Indeed, I have also done my share of race organising both running and cycling, it happens in running too by the way, but yeah, we could start a whole new 40 page thread on that one I think.
