After two previous failures, I completed my first 600km Audax ride yesterday! We finished with 15 minutes to spare. Very close.
We all fondly remember Clinton Maritz who sadly couldn't be with us for this ride.
Thanks to Eddie, Clive, Maryka, and Michael, all PBP veterans, for getting me to the line.
Thanks to Jean, Nigel and Peter for the excellent support.
Worst moment: Section from Balfour to Villiers. Cold and exhausted, I got dropped in endless mist fields. Fortunately, we regrouped, the sun came out and we flew back along the same route which almost broke our hearts.
Best moment: Maryka and I, worried about not making the 1am cut-off in Nigel in on Sunday morning drop the hammer and race, on the rivet, for 10km. We got our cards signed at 0059! Nothing like a bit panic and speed to clear the head.

Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground
with sticks, it was called witchcraft.
Today, it's called golf
