Hi there
How do I know what the correct tyre pressure will be for my mountainbike? I obviously have to take my weight into account but suppose that the type of terrain will also play a big role.
Currently riding mostly in the Western Cape, jeep track & single track. What pressure do you guys riding here inflate your tyres to?

I run tubeless tires and the following pressures:
Front 2 bar
Rear 2.6 bar
I weigh around 90kg. Obviously if you weigh less you can go lower than what I've indicated. The nice thing about tubeless tires is that they have stronger sidewalls, so you in general you can run lower pressures and thus have more grip.

Good Afternoon,
Are you running tubeless? If I may ask weight?

You probably cycle on tar with that pressure?? I'd say 1.8 - 2.0 bar

Agreed!
Recently dropped my rear pressure to 1.8 and the front to 1.6. Its made a massive difference!

Hmmm... on 2 occasions I've run the tire completely off the rim with pressure being too low. Since then I've been hesitent riding too low pressure. I also weigh 90kg and not 65kg like the race whippets...

With tubes i ran 2bar all round.
Now with tubeless i run 1.8 bar rear and 1.9bar front.and never had a issue .

Yup, heard the same thing of a number of other riders as well. Keep in mind they weigh less than an anorexic 12 year old...

I'm 65kg and run my tyres between 2 and 2.5bar mostly. Hate the feeling a "dragging" tyre.

78kg and run 2bliss with 1.8 rear 1.7 front and works well across most surfaces. Above 2bar they start feeling less grippy and below 1.6 too floppy. (Which btw were the names of the two dwarfs that went into the porn industry)

Just don't make the mistake that some riders make of running their pressures too low after they have done a tubeless conversion using standard tyres. Those sidewalls are not designed to run very low pressures and you are bound to end up with your tyre running next to you and seeing views of certain body parts that you are not familiar with.
