Heart Rate Monitor Strap - slipping

Hi

I have the polar wearlink coded transmitter and is fine when I do cycling, but as soon as I start to do running it slips down, not a lot, but is very irritating as I always find myself wanting to pull it up or something

Any ideas or tricks on keeping it in place? Thanx

Gear settings using 2 wheel sets...

I recently acquired some Fulcrum Racing 1's... Plan was to use them as race wheels and my original Mavic Aksiums as training wheels... TO ensure easy interchangeability (and because they were tired anyway) at the same time I replaced my cassette on the old rear wheel, and replaced the chain as well... So I have identical cassettes on the 2 rear wheels...

My expectation therefore was I will be able to simply swap out the wheels as required and off I go. Seems however that I cannot get the gear settings just right with both wheels? If one is ok the other will not shift into the highest gear (or will only do so while scraping the FD)... Perhaps there is a slight difference in width of the wheels?

Any (easy) solutions to this that don't involve fiddling with the gears each time I swap wheels?

Disclaimer - I am technically challenged...

would people be interested in Cheap tyre sealant?

Hi guys while out riding the other day with random things running through my head as usual lol, I started thinking about the home made tubeless sealant I made and have been running for the last 3 months (no problems up till now, touch wood)

would people out there possibly be interested in buying it? If i make like a 30L batch and put it in 500ml bottles? I'm guessing it would go for between R50 and R60 a 500ml bottle which is enough for 6-8wheels?

I'm just throwing an idea out there, I dont know if there would be interest for it? if there is a bit of interest, would possibly like to have a few people running it in the area for free to see how well it works before trying to sell of course?

Hybrid 26' 18s Patriot Trailblazer Tricycle

Yes, I bought an adult tricycle. Please don't laugh too much ;-)

I am a novice rider/trike owner, nervous, unfit and overweight, but determined.

And except for the mods, I mostly have a mountain bike with a third wheel, limited to a front brake.

My darling hubby is a longboarder (the downhill kind) and knows nothing about my new chosen, ahem, sport. (I am still terrified of my trike so there's nothing sporting about it yet!)

So I found a seat wide enough for my ample derrier.
But, I had no idea my hands would be bearing so much of my weight!

I need advice on finding more comfortable handle bars and also tips on how to adjust the trike to my short legs and heftier load. Basically, I need more comfort to ease me into this new world of, well, 3 wheels.

Any advice on how to learn when to change gears for a goofy ungainly and petrified beginner would be most welcome.

Chain dropping on descents

Hi Hubbers.

I recently became the proud owner of a Niner RIP 9. It handles and rides like a dream... That is until the chain drops off the chain rings. This usually happens whilst descending. Can anybody give me some insight as to why this is happening and how to go about rectifying it. I'm running SRAM X9 2x10. Tension in the chain seems fine, the limit screws on the FD is at the correct settings and the gap between the big chain ring and the FD is about a matchstick's width. Not sure what else to look for...

If you can, please refrain from posting things along the lines of it is be happening because it are a 29er.

Formula R1 or XTR brakes?

Hi,

I'm in the process of upgrading my brakes from the 'old' XT (which I have now sold). I ride and race a Tallboy 29er and am a light rider (60kg). My Tallboy weighed about 11.1 kg with the old XT brakes. I am careful with weight but don't go to 'extremes'. I use single-finger braking.

So the question is, what brake to go for, Formula R1 at around 390 grams (and costing R5k) or XTR BL-M985 at around 465 grams and about R4k (both excluding rotors)?

My sense is that F1 has better modulation and plenty of power (for my weight anyway), is lighter, but not as 'robust' as XTR and not as easy to get repaired/bled and parts cost more (pads, levers if they break).

XTR seems more robust at a weight penalty, provides probably even more braking power than F1 (is this needed??) and everyone knows how to bleed it (seldomly needed anyway). Parts also easily available.
(XT is 100 grams heavier than XTR and costs about R2,500)).

Would appreciate any thoughts and constructive comments.

Many thanks.

Is the extra weight of a 29'er worth it?

Ok, so without trying to start (another) "29ers are the best thing since sliced bread" thread, the question is like this:

I have the option of getting one of the following bikes -price is the same for both. The 29er is 2.3kg's heavier than the 26'er .... is the advantage of the larger wheels worth the extra weight?

Bike details are:
26'er full carbon 9.8kg's. X0 throughout with Easton EC90 stem, bars, post etc
29'er ally 12.1kg's. mix of X0/X9/X7 with Easton EA bars, stem, etc
Both are full suspension and forks and shock are similar.
Both are good brands ... let's not get caught up in brand loyalty

Bike will be used for the usual stage racing stuff (Sani, W2W, possibly Epic next year). I'm a middle of the bunch type rider (3:10 Argus), so not looking for podiums with the thing. My usual riding is Tokai, Deer Park, etc ... in other words very little flat riding, mostly up-and-down stuff.

Comments? thoughts?
