2nd hand Spez epic shocks

Hi Hubbers,

I am looking for some help. I want to make the move to a 29er and have the opportunity to get a 2012 specialized epic expert dual suspension.

My concern is
A) the rear shock makes a lot of noise when I bounce it, sounds as tho the internals are trashed or in need of a service. Is this normal with these brain setups?
Are there only specific dealers that can service these shocks and the fork for that matter (SID BRAIN)

Any advice would be appreciated before I spend all this cash.
Anything I should look out for

many thanks

Cube GTC Reaction Pro stolen on 13th May in the Silverton, Pretoria area. The bike is similar to the attached picture only with American Classic Race wheels.

There is a recognizable blue USN sticker on the top-tube of the bike which covers some scratches.
Any information about the bicycle or info of known bicycle dealers near the Silverton area, would be much appreciated!

Bike fit help

Ok so I currently ride an alu scott road bike. Size is a virtual 56. TT is 545 ctc. Seattube is 560 ctt.

I'm looking at a carbon frame with the sloping tt, but it's a medium. 534 tt and 540 Seattube.

The reach on the scott feels a tad long, with a 110mm stem on there. But inseam feels good.

Am I pushing my luck with the carbon size, or will it be ok with the seat post sticking out more and not cutting the fork down too much? I'm about 1,8m. Have longer legs and shorter torso, but only slightly.

Please avoid comments on professional bike fit for now, have it planned once I have my frame as there isn't a perfect generic fit.

Thanks!

2 stroke fuel consumption

I recently purchased a performance exhaust for my Yamaha DT 125. Sommer for the lekker. Now this bike has got a really nice power band for a 125 starting at 6000rpm. It splutters a bit between 4000 and 5000rpm.
What is interesting is that I usually got 228km's EVERY TIME before I had to go on to reserve tank. With this new pipe I had to change to reserve at 185km. Can this be due to the better "breathing" gulping fuel? Anybody had the same experience? Or did somebody siphon fuel from my tank?
Cheers

purchase road bike advice

Hi Guys

ive decided to upgrade my raleigh LTD road bike to something a bit newer and better

i was offered the new 2013 TREK MADONE 5.9 with electric gear shift ( as new , was ridden once ) for 30K

its a great bike done get me wrong , my first choice would be to get a cervelo ( Not easy to find ) but the new ones cost 40k + and i wont spend that kind of money

30k is really my max max as hopefully i would be able to sell my raleigh LTD for 10/15 and only add the difference

need some feedback from you guys , perhaps im missing something and overlooking others

i was told the TREK MADONE goes for 50k+ so im getting a good deal here but looking more at the bike then actually the deal
great second hand bike will be also great , not only looking for new ones

appreciate your feedback , ideas

thanks

Continental X King Protections leaking like sieves.

I had the problem with my X Kings not holding pressure when repumping them after they went flat due to no riding for about two months (in the same period my Geax tyres did not loose pressure at all)
The tyres did not want to hold pressure, even after putting in fresh "Stans" through the valve core, taking care not to greak the "seal" of the tyres to the rim. 200ml per tyre was added.
I later resorted to pumping the tyres to 5 bar and submerging them in my Jacuzzi to see where the leaks are, suspecting it might be around the valve. Big was my surprise that the air was escaping through the sidewalls (these are the Protection versions, supposedly Tubeless). The one tyre was so bad I could hear and feel the air escape.
After spending hours slowly turning the wheel around while it was horisontal and laying it flat to allow the Stans to reach all over, the air stopped escaping.
I then still left the tyres at 5 bar and laying horizontaly, turning them around every so often, did this for two days. The tyres then kept the pressure, but there were droplets of Stans all over the sidewalls. (will post pics of this tomorrow)
I am now very worried about the "protection" these tyres has for sidewall cuts and punctures.
Anyone else experienced this?
